Let’s get this straight - Phil’s not actually a doctor, but ever since he found out that he had a heart murmur at an early age Phil became fascinated in health, medicine and later pharmaceuticals. He completed a bachelors degree in Pharmacy before continuing on to complete post-graduate studies in Clinical Pharmacy. Phil worked in Paediatric, Psychiatry, General Medical and Surgical wards in NZ and the UK as a Clinical Pharmacist.
While completing a post-graduate qualification in commerce, majoring in marketing, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry in sales, medical, marketing and client services roles in Sydney. Unable to fight off his creative tendencies any longer, he then set up Crystal, a marketing and communications agency, as he saw a clear need for pharma companies to have a specialist agency to deliver relevant communications to healthcare professionals in an engaging way.
Phil’s other interests? Well, he recently completed his bronze medallion lifesaving award, once rode a bike around Denmark, played rugby in the Channel Islands, and surfed in Northern Ireland.

In 2009 Steve became head of the colouring in department at Crystal. Pigsticks, as he’s called here, started his journey in advertising and marketing by obtaining his pure arts degree with honors, majoring in figure drawing, where he discovered his interest in anatomy and the human form. He grew up in a medical family, discovering a strange array of medical books at home in his youth. His father was a medical officer in the British Navy who started as a sales representative and became a board member of one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies of the day. After studying Anthropology and Paleontology, Steve went on to gain his MBA in marketing, another degree in visual arts and communication, culminating in a horticulture diploma. For over twenty years he walked the corridors of some of the most influential advertising agencies around the globe as a senior creative and strategist. In 2000 he started his own marketing consultancy working primarily with pharmaceutical, nutrition, conservation and agrochemical clients.
Steve is an avid gardener, who still paints, studies and practices metal sculpture. He is also an avid conservationist, harness enthusiast, and has lived with the Bedouin in the Sahara Desert, met the last Pope, worked with the Seinfeld Team in the US, Chris Noonan from Babe and had dinner with Chevy Chase in Sydney.

Martin has been a designer since the age of about 11, although the term he used in those days was a commercial artist. Rather than letting his son watch TV, Martin's dad would send him to his bedroom with a creative brief and he'd return a few hours later to receive a robust critique of his work.
At age 12 he fell off a gym box trying to make the long fly and ended up on the floor with a clean break through both the radius and the ulna and proceeded to learn to draw left-handed.
His first job was as finished artist/designer with Crown Lynn Potteries followed by a 2 year stint in Art School. He then went on to work for one of New Zealand's premier Design companies winning Axis awards and having work published in an international Design Annual.
In the mid 90's he started his own venture and visited the head office of Apple in Cupertino with a small team to investigate technology and early education. Most of his work in those first few years involved Pharmaceutical DM for contraception and women's health. This has grown to include DM, advertising and branding in many areas of Pharmaceutical Marketing over the past 15 years.
His oldest son is a type 1 diabetic, so Martin has some very real insights into what can happen when part of the endocrine system goes astray. We say that Martin’s a Midwife since he’s the one responsible for delivering ‘the goods’ on the creative brief. He's also been present at the birth of both children, nearly passing out each time at the crucial cord cutting. He recently bungy jumped off Auckland's Harbour bridge, fortunately without any retinal detachment or post-traumatic stress syndrome.

Victoria has become a key member of the Crystal team with her ability to work across a number of projects at any one time.
Having gone through the necessary nursing training in the early 90’s, Victoria then decided to try a career shift with Qantas, and spent the next 10 years spanning the globe. Victoria’s been personally responsible for the health and well being of many an international traveller, plus she’s also worked in a call centre environment for pharmaceutical companies managing patient and healthcare professional enquiries. Victoria has a hands on role advising on many of the Crystal communication campaigns to make sure they are hitting the mark, especially from a patient’s perspective. Victoria also works as a Registered Nurse part time in a private surgical and rehabilitation hospital.
Being a mother of two boys, this pretty much qualifies Victoria as a paediatric ear nose and throat specialist, a gastro-intestinal specialist, and a trauma specialist.*
Victoria is fluent in Swedish and German and also has flown a plane.
*Note: Victoria is not formally qualified in these areas.
